Chapter Officer Code of Conduct
As a Chapter Officer I will:
Represent the Texas Southern University National Alumni Association (TSUNAA) and my chapter with professionalism, dignity, and pride and be responsible for conducting myself with courtesy and appropriate behavior.
Display respect and courtesy for fellow alumni, University faculty and staff, students, event participants, opposing universities alumni and friends, and property.
Keep personal opinions and actions separate from those made as a representative of TSUNAA.
Will act honestly, exercise and promote ethical conduct particularly as related to the chapter’s finances and financial records.
Use information and contact information for alumni and friends of the Association with discretion and privacy. Information should never be used for soliciting or marketing personal products or services.
Avoid conduct that would jeopardize the chapter and TSUNAA’s effectiveness.
Practice responsible alcohol consumption at chapter events and TSUNAA sponsored events.
Make every effort for all actions of self and fellow chapter leaders to be within the guidelines and policies of TSUNAA and Texas Southern University.
Follow through and complete accepted tasks on behalf of the chapter.
Actively participate as an executive board member by attending board meetings and chapter events.
Seek training for my role by participating in meetings, Association sanctioned trainings, or other opportunities.
Keep national officers informed of progress, concerns, or problems within the program(s) I participate.
Any chapter officer having a conflict of interest shall not vote or use his or her personal influence to address the matter, and he or she shall not be counted in determining the quorum for the meeting.
Report known or suspected violations of this Code to the national president
As a Chapter Officer I will not:
Use vulgar or inappropriate language while representing TSUNAA or my chapter.
Hold events at venues that do not uphold the integrity of TSUNAA.
Post inappropriate pictures and/or comments on group or university/alumni web sites, emails, social media, or online social chapters.
Discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, pregnancy, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, physical or mental disability, or covered veteran status.
Chapter officers are reminded that confidential financial, personnel and other matters concerning the organization, donors, alumni, etc. may be included in materials or discussed from time to time. Chapter officers should not disclose such confidential information to anyone until TSUNAA authorizes it is ready to be disclosed to the general public.
