The Texas Southern University National Alumni Association (TSUNAA) Dallas Chapter,
held its 10th Annual Scholarship and Awards Luncheon on Sunday, June 5, 2011
at 2:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel Dallas.
The TSU Dallas Chapter honored two alumni. Betty Hunnicutt Glover, TSU Class
of 1968, received the Educator of the Year Award for 42 years of distinguished
service to the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). Dale Long, TSU Class
of 1974, received the Distinguished Alumnus Community Service Award for his
37 years of volunteer service to Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBS)/Lone
Star of North Texas.
Connie Cochran, Director of TSU Alumni Relations office, was the luncheon
speaker. Ms. Cochran is a 1990 graduate of TSU. Renaissance of Excellence
was this years luncheon theme.
Two worthy students were awarded scholarships to attend Texas Southern University.
In addition, the Dallas TSU Chapter is continuing to raise funds for the Presidents
Leadership Scholars Program. The chapter donates $2,500 to this scholarship
program each year and the university matches it with $1,000.
For the third year, the Dallas TSU Chapter presented Mister and Miss Future
TSU Alumni. These young people showcased their talent during the luncheon.
