She is a graduate of Jack Yates High School and a second generation graduate of Texas Southern University with a major in Political Science and a minor in Computer Science.

Michael Jones is a fifth generation Texan and native of La Marque . He is a 1981Texas Southern University graduate, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. While at TSU, Jones was active in the Student Government Association and he worked in the student-run KTSU-FM news department.
